Nuthatch

As I was walking in local woodland (Flatts lane woods) I heard and then saw a nut-hatch. I used my phone to record it's song and now I've put it to a quick slideshow of some of my nuthatch photographs

I also have a nuthatch card I'm selling on Etsy at the moment

Swan

This is a picture of a Swan and Signets from last year.

The nest, which the Swan sat on for several weeks (as I found out after many visits) was Preston park which is between Yarm and Stockton-on-Tees.

spring

It's been approx 3 weeks since the final snow fell in my part of the northeast of England and the Pool Frogs have been busy laying and the Toads have just started mating.

I've been worried over the last few years with the snows coming later in the year and  lasting longer into the next. Suddenly and with little warming.
I remember being told that Newts start spawning earliest out of the Amphibians in our country ( though I'm not sure this is true) so it's them that I worry about the most.

It is nice though, to be able to walk around a pond and hear frogs and toads croaking.

As I walk around Pool Hospital, as it used to be known, on the boarder of North Yorkshire I think how nice it is to live so close to such an abundance of wildlife.

As well as the frogs and toads I can also see sticklebacks skimming through the water and Canadian Geese trying paddling passed on the surface of this calm body of water.
Somewhere close I can hear a bird making a sound so close to the word tweet it makes me smile.
There are Blue tits and Sparrows, Tree creepers. I can even hear a woodpecker off in the distance somewhere.

Throw in the sun reaching through the trees and you have the makings of a lovely day with the promise of a fantastic spring to come... I hope.

etsy

I've been thinking about my etsy site lately. As a way of showing some of my work it's good but for creating revenue it seems some what lacking.  https://www.etsy.com/shop/Matteesside
When selling at local fairs and festivals I sell at least £30 worth of stuff.
I need a new plan.
Somewhere else on the net to sell my my work.... or maybe better advertising :-)

Zelda watercolour

I was asked by a person who has a blog called one up gaming to do a few pictures of console characters.

Now when I was a child I have had a go at drawing things like sonic and Mario but it's need a while.

I started the pictures by asking the guy what kind of games characters he would like me to try and so far I've do sonic, which I posted on my blog not so long ago, and Now I'm working on Zelda.

So far Zelda is turning out to be challenging but fun. There have been so many Zelda games that I had a bit of choice to how I could try drawing the Zelda and link.
I eventually went for the most recent game. mainly because there are massive birds in it and they look like the sort of thing I would draw  :)

Segway

I completed something off my list of things to try (The list *list2* I forgot to put up on my blog… oops).

This first one was have a go on a Segway!
I did it and it was Awesome!

You may have herd that they are almost impossible to fall off…. That’s not true or at least not true for the off road ones. You can get them moving pretty quick and on rough terrain you can get your feet jumping round which upsets (as I understood it) the gyroscope wizard that live in it. The thing then goes all funny and tries to twist your leg off!
Loads of fun.

The only thing I didn’t expect was how much pressure it puts on your thighs. But its like skiing apparently so if you do that then it probably isn’t going to bother you.

I wish I'd taken my video camera because when you fall off... It's amazing!
you've been fraimed should be filled with clips of Segway falls.
